Littrow Circle Molded Carpet Light
on view @volume_gallery
Debatably aprocryohal, in the 19th century, Austrian born astronomer Joseph von Littrow put forth the idea to trench a 30km circle in the Saharan Desert, fill it with kerosene, and set fire to it in the night to signal human presence to the universe. This, along with the Gauss triangle, were among the earliest reactions to modern astronomy’s ‘plurality of worlds’ and its logical consequence - an argument for the possibility of other intelligent life and a desire to contact them. 👽👽👽
